At the young age of 15, Shaw was already breaking records, and by 18, he captained India to victory in the Under-19 World Cup. His Test debut century further solidified his potential, leading many to believe he was destined for greatness.

Shaw acknowledges that he lost his way, falling prey to negative influences, poor choices, and a decline in discipline, which gradually distanced him from the sport. He began neglecting rigorous practice sessions and prioritizing less important things. This led to a setback in his career, resulting in his exclusion from the Mumbai Ranji team and going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction.

Amidst the criticism, Sachin Tendulkar, a cricketing icon who had witnessed Shaw's development alongside his son Arjun, remained a steadfast source of support.

"Sachin sir is familiar with my journey. Arjun and I have been friends since childhood. We've played and grown up together. Sir has always been there, and I recently spoke with him about two months ago when he was practicing at the MIG. He said, 'Prithvi, I still believe in you and will continue to do so because I have seen you grow up. Get back on track as you were before.' He believes anything is possible in the next 13-14 years, and that means a lot," Shaw shared with News24.

Tendulkar's words instilled hope in Shaw.

Now at 25, Shaw is committed to turning things around. He has left Mumbai cricket to join Maharashtra, seeking a fresh start. He openly acknowledges his past mistakes and is dedicated to working hard to rebuild his career.
