Givemore Makoni, the Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming series. "We are delighted to confirm Sri Lanka's visit to Zimbabwe for what we expect to be a thrilling and competitive series," he stated.

The T20I series holds particular significance for the Zimbabwean side. It serves as a crucial preparatory stage for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final, hosted by Zimbabwe starting September 19. This tournament presents Zimbabwe with an opportunity to secure their place in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2027.

Makoni further emphasized the importance of the series. "Matches between our two nations have always produced entertaining cricket and this tour comes at a crucial time for our team as we prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifying campaign," he added.

This series marks the beginning of a busy period for Zimbabwe cricket. Following the Sri Lanka tour, Zimbabwe is scheduled to host South Africa and New Zealand for two-match Test series. In addition, a T20I tri-series featuring all three nations is also planned.
