The 30-year-old Archer is set to make his first Test appearance since February 2021. He is in contention to add to his 13 Test caps when the second Test begins at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 2.

Archer's return to red-ball cricket came in the recent County Championship match for Sussex against Durham. His last Test match was also against India in 2021. Since then, he has faced several injuries, including a back stress fracture, keeping him out of action until his return to white-ball cricket in May last year.

The rest of the England squad remains unchanged from the first Test in Leeds, where the hosts secured a five-wicket victory.

The remaining three Tests of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 will take place at Lord's (July 10-14), Old Trafford in Manchester (July 23-27), and The Oval (July 31- August 4).

England Squad for 2nd Test:

Ben Stokes (C), Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes.
