Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary Indian cricketer, has publicly condemned the proliferation of fake quotes attributed to him on various sports websites and social media platforms.
In a video message posted on his official Instagram account, Gavaskar directly addressed the issue, highlighting the misrepresentation of his views and urging cricket enthusiasts to exercise caution.
"Over the last few months, it has come to my notice that a lot of sports websites and individual accounts have been attributing comments and quotes to me that I've never made," Gavaskar stated in the video. He implored viewers to "verify, fact-check, and not to believe everything that they read, particularly coming from some of these individual accounts and sports websites."
Gavaskar, currently in England as a commentator for the ongoing Test series between India and England, expressed his concern over the increasing trend of fabricated remarks circulating online.
His statement comes after several alleged quotes were attributed to him during India’s first Test loss.
