The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
GCA Secretary Anil Patel confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz, stating that the association is still in the process of identifying a suitable window for the tournament and finalizing the number of participating teams, along with other crucial details.
These domestic T20 leagues have emerged as vital platforms for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to scout promising talent. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have all played a significant role in providing local cricketers with opportunities to shine and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
