One year ago, India ended a 17-year drought by winning the T20 World Cup, defeating South Africa in a thrilling final at Kensington Oval. The nail-biting match went down to the last over, where India held firm to secure the title.

The victory was the result of a dominant, unbeaten campaign, showcasing India's character and resilience throughout the tournament.

A significant moment occurred earlier when India faced Pakistan. Rohit recalled the intensity: “It wasn’t just a game. Two days before the match, we were locked in — tight security, fans everywhere, you could feel something special was coming. It felt like a festival had taken over.”

India narrowly won by six runs in a tense, low-scoring contest. Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Match for his impressive performance of 3 for 14.

Despite an early batting struggle, with quick losses of Kohli, Rohit, and Axar, Rishabh Pant's aggressive 42 off 31 balls helped India reach a total of 119.

Rohit noted, “On that pitch, his 42 was like scoring 70. We knew 140 was par, but with our bowlers, even 119 could work.”

Rohit also gave credit to Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh for their excellent execution of the game plan. “Bumrah is a weapon — he takes wickets and dries up runs. Arshdeep’s been brilliant too, and they were crucial in pushing the game in our favour.”

From the electrifying atmosphere of the India-Pakistan match to the tense final in Barbados, Rohit’s reflections highlight a team that created lasting memories for the nation.
