Neeraj Chopra clinched his second victory of 2025 at the Ostrava Golden Spike event with an 85.29-meter throw, following his Paris Diamond League title. Meanwhile, Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, focusing on World Athletics Championships training, secured gold at the Asian Athletics Championship with an 86.40-meter throw. Nadeem also recently inspired young athletes at a World Olympic Day celebration in Lahore.

Neeraj Chopra, India's Olympic gold medalist, is set for a potential clash with Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem at the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. This follows Chopra's recent victory at the Ostrava Golden Spike event in Czech Republic.

Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem gear up for future competitions.

Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem are anticipated to compete at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Chopra secured his second win of 2025 with an 85.29-meter throw in the javelin competition at the Ostrava Golden Spike event. The event was hosted by Chopra's personal coach, Jan Zelezny, who is also the current world record holder. Rio Olympics gold medalist Thomas Rohler was also among the competitors.

This victory follows Chopra's recent triumph at the Paris Diamond League. Earlier in the season, he finished second to Germany's Julian Weber at both the Doha Diamond League meet and the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial event.

Nadeem, the reigning Olympic champion from Pakistan, did not participate in these four events, choosing instead to focus on training in Pakistan. However, he competed in the Asian Athletics Championship last month, an event that Chopra skipped. Nadeem won gold with an 86.40-meter throw.

"My focus is on the World Athletics Championships, and I am working hard for that," Nadeem stated. "It is very hot in Lahore. I am going to England soon and will be training there for a month."

The World Athletics Championships are scheduled for September 13-21 in Tokyo, where both Chopra and Nadeem are expected to compete.

Nadeem made history at the Paris Olympics last year by breaking the Olympic javelin record with a throw of 92.97 meters. This prevented Chopra from defending his gold medal from the Tokyo Olympics.

Recently, Nadeem was the chief guest at a World Olympic Day celebration in Lahore. He reflected on his achievements and encouraged aspiring athletes.

"It is a matter of pride for athletes to celebrate this day, and I am proud that I am celebrating it as an Olympic gold medalist for the first time," Nadeem said.

He emphasized the importance of dedication and hard work to young athletes, adding, "My message to the youngsters is to stay focused. I came from a small place and won a gold medal. So, if they work hard, they too can win medals."
